Help, tips and tricks
General information
The TNCguide context-sensitive help system contains the user documentation in HTML format.
- The following user documentation is available in TNCguide:
- Conversational Programming User's Manual (BHBKlartext.chm)
- ISO User's Manual (BHBIso.chm)
- User's Manual for Setup, Testing and Running NC Programs (BHBoperate.chm)
- User’s Manual for Cycle Programming (BHBtchprobe.chm)
- List of All Error Messages (errors.chm)
In addition, the main.chm "book" file is available, with the contents of all existing .chm files.
Machine
As an option, your machine tool builder can embed machine-specific documentation in the TNCguide. These documents then appear as a separate book in the main.chm file.
Procedure
Call TNCguide in the following ways:
- Press the HELP key during program input
- Click the help symbol with the mouse and click the desired soft key
- Press the HELP key and search for a term
- Open a chm file in the file management
Tip
The control always tries to start TNCguide in the language that you have selected as the conversational language on your control. If the files with this language are not yet available on your control, the control automatically opens the English version.
General information
You can add comments to an NC program to provide information to users or explain program steps. The control skips the comments.
You have the following possibilities for adding comments:
- Comment in a separate NC block
- Comment at the end of an NC block

General information
You can add structuring blocks to an NC program, e.g. to split complex NC programs into useful sections.
In the PROGRAM + SECTS screen layout, the control shows the structuring blocks in a separate window.
Procedure
To insert a structuring block, proceed as follows: | ||
| ||
| ||
| ||
| ||
| ||
|
Tip
You can also insert structuring blocks with the Shift + 8 key combination.
General information
The control features an integrated calculator with the basic mathematical functions. You can load the calculated values into your NC program.
- Select one of the following views as needed:
- Standard
- Scientific
- Equation editor
Manual
For a list of all mathematical functions on the calculator, please refer to the TNCguide online help.
Operation
To use the calculator, proceed as follows: | ||
| ||
| ||
| ||
| ||
|
Tip
To interrupt the arithmetic operation and to close the calculator, press the CALC key again.
General information
The control will display the following error messages:
- Incorrect input
- Logical errors in the NC program
- Impossible contour elements
- Incorrect touch probe use
The control displays long and multi-line error messages in abbreviated form. If an error occurs in the operating mode in the background, the control displays the text ERROR in the small header of the background window in red type. Complete information on all pending errors is shown in the error window.
The control displays an error message in the header until you clear it, or until it is replaced by a higher-priority error.
Clearing individual error messages
To clear an error message, proceed as follows:
|
Tip
In some cases, you cannot use the CE key to clear the error message, because the CE key is used for other functions.
In these cases, clear the error message in the error window.
Opening the error window
To open the error window, proceed as follows: | ||
|
Further information can be displayed for all error messages. The control provides the following options for this:
Soft key | Function |
---|---|
Display information on error causes and remedies | |
Display the number of the block where the cause of the error is located |
Clearing multiple errors
Active error messages can be cleared individually or cleared all together in the error window.
Proceed as follows: | ||
| ||
| ||
|
Tip
If the cause of the error has not been corrected, the error message cannot be cleared. In this case, the error message remains in the window.
If the "NC program canceled" error message occurs, you can often see the reason in the subsequent error message.
Closing the error window
To close the error window, proceed as follows: | ||
|
General information and operation
The MOD functions provide additional input possibilities and displays. In addition, you can enter code numbers to enable access to protected areas.
To select MOD functions, proceed as follows: | ||
|

Procedure
Machine
Refer to your machine manual.
The machine tool builder defines which machine parameters are available to you as user parameters.
To modify a user parameter, proceed as follows: | ||
| ||
| ||
| ||
| ||
| ||
| ||
| ||
| ||
|
Tip
Use the HELP key to display additional information.
The screen layout key enables you to specify whether you see system names or explanatory texts in the parameter tree.
